1) Taking a Stand Concerning Human Rights

In this workshop we will have the opportunity to take part in an experiential, participatory exercise aiming to inform, sensitize and open conversations concerning human rights. It is an exercise called "Taking a Stand" and it is included in COMPASS, a manual for human rights training that has been translated in Greek by ARSIS and is used in interventions in schools as well as other educational events with teachers and youthwork professionals.

2) The right to Mental Health

The aim of this workshop is through an interactive role play to highlight the rights to the mental health  of refugees in a host center. We’ll try to  show as well the way they should be supported by professionals working in this field according to the IASC Guidelines.

3) Community Mobilization about MHPSS

The workshop will be interactive and experiential so participants can increase their understandingof mental health under a global mental health perspective, the importance of peer support, the effectiveness of psychosocial interventions and the necessity of community involvement (tools: PM+, IASC Guidelines, principles of the community centered approach, good practices from other MHPSS actors abroad).

4) Best interest procedures in mental health of children

Case study: An UAC manifesting mental health issues upon arrival in Greece

Discussions based on case study:

  • How to properly asses and/ or determine the best interest of the child manifesting mental health issues which affect their capacity to express their views and consent?
  • How we can address the special needs of those children from first encounter during their time residing in a camp or other settlements until a durable solution is found?
  • What can the impact be of rehabilitation and other forms of support in relation to previous best interest assessments and determinations?

5) With Eyes Closed, Best Practices to Strengthen the Resilience of Children and Adolescents

6) RFL in emergencies and even beyond

Everyday hundreds of thousands of people lose touch with their relatives as a consequence of armed conflicts, migration, natural disasters or other emergency situations.

The principle objective of the “RFL in emergencies and even beyond” workshop is to familiarize the participants with the different pillars of Restoring Family Links (RFL) response: prevention; re-establishment of contact; humanitarian/family tracing; dead & missing throughout the different stages of emergency response (from preparedness to recovery) and even beyond. In that framework, context specific simulation and interaction will be used to reveal issues of concern and psychosicial challenges involved, such as coping with ambitious loss, the right and the need to know, vulnerable groups, family reunification, information sharing, accompaniment, etc., focusing however, on lessons learned and best practices to better serve beneficiaries, support practitioners and advance the overall resilience of communities.
